When you book our services, you’ll tell us what you need help with:
We charge different prices based on the type of editing that you need.
- For proofreading (basic grammar check): $0.025/word
- For copyediting (editing for word choice and clarity): $0.035/word
- For developmental editing (providing big-picture feedback): $0.045/word
- For formatting: $2/reference list entry or footnote
- For table formatting: $10/table
- For page formatting: $120 for formatting the body and front matter of your dissertation. Ask for a quote if your project is smaller than a typical dissertation.
If you’re a student paying for your own editing, you get a 20% discount because being a student is hard.

Plan one week for every 35,000 words, or approximately every 100 pages. In other words, if your paper is 150 pages, you can expect it back in your inbox within 10 days.
If your paper is very short (less than 20 pages), I can have it back to you within two days!
We may be able to help you, if we can find some extra childcare! If you need your paper edited more quickly than is typical (see “When should I expect my paper back?”), please specify your deadline in your contact form. Rush editing costs $60 per hour.
Note that we charge rush editing rates if our schedule is full and your paper requires us to work overtime. Booking ahead can solve that problem, though we understand that advance notice isn’t always possible.
Sometimes the most difficult part of an academic paper is formatting it per university and formatting manual guidelines. I can create the front matter for dissertations (including the title page and table of contents), or I can proofread your citations, references page, or both.
This usually costs between $90 and $300, depending on what you’d like done.
