Meet Lorin

she/her

My path to editing started with teaching, which started with a love for language and helping others communicate their ideas effectively. I did a secondary teaching credential straight out of college and then an MA and a PhD in Rhetoric and Writing. Soon after completing my PhD (like within 24 hours soon!), I had my first child and quickly realized that academia was not as family-friendly as I had thought it would be. Editing allows me to combine my love of language and teaching with a flexible schedule more suited to raising my three kids.

I have over 15 years of experience as a writer, researcher, and educator, with areas of expertise in rhetoric, sports studies, and women’s studies. I have worked as a media studies professor, focusing on women’s representation in sport media and coaches’ utilization of sport media and technology. I specialize in academic and nonfiction editing, including revising and formatting academic research articles, theses and dissertations, and book manuscripts. I especially enjoy coaching scholars on the writing process and helping academics find better work-life balance.

In my free time, I love all things athletic and outdoorsy. I am a former collegiate athlete, a current gym rat, and an always horse lover. I enjoy playing volleyball and soccer, riding horses, lifting weights, paddleboarding, and going to the beach. But mostly I end up driving my kids around in circles!
